Set amongst the luscious rainforest of Kuranda in Far North Queensland, this project is about giving a much-loved existing pole home a new lease on life.

We’re looking at the home and the site as a whole — reworking the existing house to create more bedrooms, living and storage, improving the lower level, and bringing the pool, pergola, gardens and outdoor spaces into better relationship with the home.

There’s also an opportunity to give new purpose to what’s already on site, including adapting the existing shipping container into a dedicated studio space, while developing a broader landscape and site plan for productive gardens, access and future use.

Longer term, a new secondary dwelling will be tucked into the trees, designed to sit comfortably alongside the existing pole home.

The project will unfold in stages, allowing the property to evolve over time while making the most of what is already here — natural materials, existing structures, the landscape and the beautiful treetop setting.
